Ireland’s rugby team has announced six changes to their starting lineup for the upcoming rematch against Japan in Cork, following a 31-24 victory in Galway last Sunday. Among the notable adjustments, Jane Clohessy and Niamh Gallagher will make their first starts, while Sophie Barrett, Kate Jordan, and Alana McInerney are set to debut internationally from the bench.
Linda Djougang returns to her role at loosehead prop, joining Neve Jones and Eilís Cahill in the front row. Clohessy will partner with Fiona Tuite-O’Sullivan at lock, and Emily Lane makes her return at scrum-half to team up with Dannah O’Brien.
In the backline, Aoife Dalton reclaims her position in the center alongside Anna McGann, and Robyn O’Connor is slated to start on the left wing. Gallagher transitions to the full-back position, with Beibhinn Parsons maintaining her spot on the right wing.
The back row remains unchanged, featuring captain Erin King, Brittany Hogan, and Jemima Adams Verling. This lineup adjustment aims to build on the team’s previous success and strengthen their performance in the forthcoming match against Japan.
