Meta has introduced a new line of AI-powered wearables, including camera-free smart glasses, aiming to address privacy concerns associated with wearable technology. Available from October 13, the audio-only glasses are priced at $349. Unlike previous smart glasses models from Meta, these do not include cameras for capturing photos or videos. The company emphasized that privacy features, such as a visible recording indicator on camera-equipped models, remain integral to their wearable devices.
Alongside the camera-free version, Meta unveiled new smart glasses with display capabilities, priced from $799, which are expected to enter additional international markets. The company also showcased lighter mixed-reality glasses, powered by an external battery and memory pack, with an anticipated launch in spring 2027 starting at $1,299.
In addition to the hardware announcements, Meta highlighted Muse, its AI-powered personal assistant. Muse is designed to assist with tasks like booking appointments, making calls, and connecting with various services. Meta positions both the AI glasses and Muse as central components of its broader consumer AI strategy.
